Carry On Tuesday Plus # 181

Born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, India, Mohandas Gandhi studied law and came to aggravate for Indian rights both at home and in South Africa. He became a leader of India's independence movement, organizing boycotts against British institutions in peaceful forms of civil disobedience. He was given the holy name Mahatma and oversaw a diverse ashram. He was killed by a fanatic in 1948.

A few more of Mahatma Gandhi quotes

Imitation is the sincerest flattery.

An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind.

Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.

If I had no sense of humour, I would long ago have committed suicide.

Glory lies in the attempt to reach one's goal and not in reaching it.

I believe in equality for everyone, except reporters and photographers

To believe in something, and not to live it, is dishonest.

Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.

In a gentle way, you can shake the world.
